get ready for nice weekend weather

But we still need some rain. The Sierra Nevada snowpack is only 51% of normal to this point in the wet season, which began July 1st. Chico is over 7 inches below average for rainfall to this date. It doesn't look as if any big storms are on the horizon, either. But, I'm sure people in the Midwest who are getting hammered with severe weather right now wish they could have our weather. It will be absolutely beautiful this weekend, with sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday. Highs both days will hover right around 70 degrees. There will be a slight chance of showers Tuesday and then again Thursday night into next Friday; otherwise, expect dry weather with temps at or slightly below average. Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 39. North northwest wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 69. Northeast wind at 5 mph becoming west.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 42. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 70. North northwest wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 44. Light and variable wind.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Tuesday: A slight chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 65.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 65.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.
