The first storm will impact our area beginning late tonight and linger through Wednesday. This storm will bring with it 1-3" of rain to the valley, while elevations above 6500 feet in the Sierra will see 2-4 FEET of snow! And this is just through Wednesday! A second storm arriving Friday will bring just as much moisture, but the second one will be colder than the first. That means snow levels down to the foothills by Saturday. Right now it's too soon to know if any accumulating snows will occur in the foothills, so stay tuned. First, we have to get through this first storm. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills through 5 pm tomorrow (Tuesday). Expect sustained winds from the southeast between 25-35 mph, and gusts to 55 mph. This will cause travel difficulties and could bring down tree limbs. Isolated power outages are possible. Expect heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains beginning late tonight and continuing through Wednesday. Obviously, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect above 4500 feet. Whew! Lots going on!
