here we go again

Eerily reminiscent of last spring, in which we had storm after storm move through our area during March and April 2011. Here comes another one. More from the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:

ANOTHER MOIST PACIFIC WEATHER DISTURBANCE WILL REACH THE
CALIFORNIA COAST TUESDAY...AND MOVE INLAND BY LATE IN THE DAY.
WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED WITH SIGNIFICANT HIGH
ELEVATION SNOW POSSIBLE OVER THE SIERRA AND NORTHERN MOUNTAINS.

PRECIPITATION TOTALS COULD RANGE FROM ONE HALF TO ONE INCH IN THE
SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AND UP TO TWO INCHES IN THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY.
BREEZY SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THE ONSET OF PRECIPITATION
IN THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY...WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH POSSIBLE. SNOW
LEVELS WILL SLOWLY RISE THROUGH THE EVENT FROM NEAR 4000 FEET
TUESDAY TO AROUND 5500 FEET WEDNESDAY. FORECAST MODELS ARE
CURRENTLY INDICATING POSSIBLE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES
IN THE MENDOCINO AND SHASTA COUNTY MOUNTAINS ABOVE 4500
FEET...WHILE 8 INCHES TO OVER A FOOT IS POSSIBLE IN THE SIERRA
OVER 5500 FEET WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE LASSEN PEAK AREA.

THE PRIMARY STORM IMPACT WILL BE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS IN
THE MOUNTAINS.

ADDITIONAL PERIODS OF PRECIPITATION ARE POSSIBLE INTO THE
FOLLOWING WEEKEND.
