not as wet as previously forecast?

It now looks like valley locations will receive mainly light precipitation and the mountains will be impacted the most. From the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:

PERIODS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN LATE TONIGHT
IN THE COASTAL AND NORTHERN MOUNTAINS THEN SPREAD ACROSS MOST
LOCATIONS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WILL FALL ALONG THE COASTAL
RANGE AS THE STORM MOVES SOUTHWARD HUGGING THE CALIFORNIA
COASTLINE. HOWEVER...THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF LASSEN PARK AND FAR
NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED WITH
NOTABLE PRECIPITATION ALONG WITH THE NORTHERN SACRAMENTO VALLEY. SNOW
LEVELS WILL GENERALLY RANGE FROM 3000 TO 4000 FEET ALONG THE
COASTAL RANGE WITH HEAVIEST SNOW TOTALS ABOVE 6000 FEET...REACHING 7 TO
10 INCHES. SNOW LEVELS ACROSS THE LASSEN PARK/SIERRA NEVADA REGION
FORECAST AT 4000 TO 5000 FEET WITH SNOW TOTALS AROUND 4 TO 7
INCHES...UP TO 10 INCHES NEAR LASSEN PEAK. MOUNTAIN WINDS WILL BE
BREEZY WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS UP TO 40 TO 50 MPH...LOCALLY HIGHER
ACROSS RIDGETOPS.

PRIMARY STORM IMPACT WILL BE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS IN THE
MOUNTAINS.

ADDITIONAL PERIODS OF PRECIPITATION ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE
FOLLOWING WORKWEEK.
