Chico has received over two inches of rain since Monday, and more is on the way. Two storms are lined up: one will arrive later tonight and linger into tomorrow, while the second is close on its heels and will invade tomorrow night. The first storm is a warm one, so snow levels will be higher. Warmer air is already flowing in, and area creeks and streams are running higher than normal due to snow melt runoff. Snow levels will lower with the second, colder storm, and we could see accumulating snow in Paradise and Forest Ranch by Saturday morning. Stay tuned for more details as events unfold. Gusty winds will accompany these storms, so eexpect gusts to nearly 40 mph over the next 24-36 hours. The weather should calm down by early next week.
