Not much rain fell with this system, as Chico picked up only .26" of rain. However, some Sierra foothills communities picked up ample amounts of snow, including Forest Ranch and Magalia. They saw as much as 4-6" of snow between late last night and this morning. Winds were more impressive, as Chico experienced a wind gust of 43 mph just before midnight last night. Winds have subsided this afternoon, but it is still breezy with winds between 15-20 mph. Another impulse from this broad area of low pressure will pinwheel through our area tonight and tomorrow, bringing more rain showers for the valley and snow above 2000 feet in elevation. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Sierra foothills through tomorrow, and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 3000 feet. Expect an additional 3-5" of snow above 2000 feet, and 6-12 inches or more above 4000 feet through tomorrow. For Chico, the sun should return by tomorrow afternoon after morning showers. This weekend still looks wonderful, with sunny skies and highs in the mid 60s. A chance of showers returns for early next week. Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:
