showery Tuesday followed by a sunny Wednesday and beyond

The high temperature in Chico today was 54 degrees under cloudy, gloomy skies. Chico received .19" as of 5 pm today. Showers are still falling, but should taper off later tonight with clearing skies after midnight. A low pressure system skirting down the California coast was responsible for today's wet weather. Once this low leaves, clear skies and dry weather follow and will stick around for awhile. High temps will rebound back into the mid to upper 60s, further encouraging those flowering trees to bloom. It looks like we're in store for another nice weekend, as well. Here's the detailed forecast for Chico from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 40. East wind at 8 mph becoming north. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Northwest wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 40. North wind around 6 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 67. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. South wind at 6 mph becoming east northeast.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 63.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 65.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 63.

Sunday Night: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 61.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35.
