continued spring like weather

The past two days in Chico (Thursday and Friday) have been uneventful, with dry conditions and temps seasonable- mainly in the low to mid 60s. I think climatologically speaking (is that even spelled correctly?), Chico is similar to Atlanta, GA (except without all the humidity!). By mid-February we normally see highs above 60 degrees. Also around this time, the flowering and fruit-bearing trees begin to bloom. The beautiful white and pink blooms can last through the middle of March some years. Right around mid-March, on average, the decidous trees begin to bloom, such as the elm, walnut, sweetgum, silver maple, and Chinese pistache. Given how warm it has been, and how much warmer it is expected to be, these trees may begin blooming by the end of this month. It will be below normal temperature wise today through Monday as a weak trough pulls down some cooler air from the north. Hwever, a large area of high pressure will build in by Tuesday, and along with some northerly downsloping winds, will warm those temps into the 70s! Break out the shorts in February! Unfortunately, we won't see much if any rain the next seven days. I have a feeling it's going to be a very bad fire season this summer. Here's the latest forecast for Chico from the National Weather Service:
