dreary weekend ahead

In fact, with the exception of today, this whole week has been dreary. Yesterday was particularly awful, with off-and-on rain showers and scattered thunderstorms. The high temperature in Chico yesterday was just 58 degrees- 27 degrees below average! Today was somewhat better- we managed to see more sunshine and a high of 68 degrees. Unfortunately, a low pressure system dropping south from the Gulf of Alaska will bring back showers into our forecast this weekend. Along with the showers, cooler than normal temps will be the rule. Forecast highs will only be in the 60s to around 70 degrees Friday through next Tuesday. The weather should improve (fingers crossed) by Tuesday, and temps should warm up to near 80 degrees by the middle of next week. Usually by this time of year Chico would see its first 100 degree day. Not this year. At this rate, we may not see 90 degree weather until July! Some area happenings this weekend: the Saturday Farmer's Market in downtown Chico from 7am until 1pm (on Saturday, of course); opening nights for three area theater companies: The Blue Room presents "The Hard Dick" (no, it's not what you think), "Superior Donuts" at Chico Cabaret, and "I Love Piano" at the Theatre On The Ridge in Paradise; and the Oroville Art Tour on Saturday beginning at 10 am. For more info, check out the Chico News and Review. Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:
