Today's high temperature in Chico was 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Clouds have been restricted to the nearby Coast Range and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges today. After an extended period of chilly, gray, and wet weather, it looks like summer may have finally arrived to the Northstate! Sunny days and clear nights will dominate the forecast the next seven days. High temperatures will be mainly in the 80s (with upper 80s to near 90 degrees by the end of this week), while lows will be mainly in the 50s to around 60 degrees. With the fairly quick warming of temps, there's a risk of flooding due to rapid snowmelt in the mountains. Of course, many of our streams and rivers originate in the mountains, where the snowmelt will feed these already swollen bodies of water. Be careful when in and near creeks and rivers this week! While it will be warm, and the cool waters tempting, these rivers and streams are running high and fast (and cold!). Avoid swimming in these waters! It just isn't safe at this time. Be careful while having fun and enjoy this nice weather! Here's the seven day forecast for Chico from the National Weather Service:
