what a difference a week will make

After a scorching 96 degrees yesterday, a forecast high of 100 later this afternoon (current temperature in Chico is 96 degrees), and another 100 degree day tomorrow, temps will take a nosedive and by this time next week we'll be lucky to see 80 degrees! We just have to get through the next few days before the cooling trend (relatively speaking, of course) begins. High temps will hover in the mid 90s for Thursday and Friday before falling below 90 degrees for the weekend. Look for highs in the mid 80s for next Monday, and that nice 80 degree high for next Tuesday. Lovely! Low temps will also cool down, from the upper 60s tonight to the upper 50s by early next week. Normal high and low temps for Chico for this time of year are 89 and 58, respectively. We'll be above average through the end of the week, and then below average beginning the latter half of the weekend. Not a drop of rain is expected, but that's normal for these parts during the summer. Just gotta get through the heat! Here's the detailed seven day forecast for Chico from the National Weather Service:
