update on the weather forecast for early next week

It looks as though this weather system that will affect us Monday will be a little more potent than previously thought. Gusty winds, valley showers, and mountain snow above 7000 feet will be likely as the storm pivots through. The far northern areas of the state will see the effects first, and precipitation will spread southward late Sunday/ early Monday. High temperatures will go from the low 90s today in Chico to the lower to mid 70s on Monday. Temps will return to seasonal levels by the middle of next week, but we won't see any 90+ degree temps for the next few days (after today). Here is Chico's updated seven day forecast from the National Weather Service: Today: Sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming east. Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South southeast wind between 5 and 9 mph. Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 11pm. Monday: Showers likely, mainly before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. South southeast wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
