the heat of late spring

It's going to be hotter than at any time so far this year beginning Friday and lasting through this weekend. More from the National Weather Service: UNSEASONABLY HOT TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FOR THE COMING WEEKEND WITH LITTLE RELIEF OVERNIGHT. AFTERNOON HIGHS IN THE VALLEY WILL RANGE FROM AROUND 98 TO 105 FOR BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. TEMPERATURES IN THE FOOTHILLS WILL ALSO BE QUITE HIGH AND REACH THE 90S TO AROUND 100. THE MOUNTAINS WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 70S TO NEAR 90. NIGHTS WILL REMAIN VERY WARM AND COULD BE AT OR NEAR RECORD LEVELS. COOLER AND MORE COMFORTABLE WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO RETURN ON MONDAY. Make sure you stay in an air conditioned room or building. If you don't have air conditioning, hang out in the movie theater or walk around Chico Mall. Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if working outdoors. Fortunately, high temps will moderate by early next week to the lower 90s. Sunday will be the hottest day, with highs at or above 100 degrees. Even as I type this entry the current temp at the Chico Airport is 99 degrees. A taste of what's to come, I guess. Stay safe!
