Wow! Chico has seen copious amounts of rain the past two days. Chico has received 2.20" in just the past 24 hours! Here at my house in the foothills east of Chico, my rain gauge has measured nearly five inches since Thursday! Winds were gusty last night, gusting to over 30 mph in Chico yesterday evening. Today will be showery, with another storm on the way for Sunday. This next storm doesn't appear as strong as last night's storm, so expect less rain and wind. Showers will linger into early next week before the sun returns by the middle of next week. Here are the details from the National Weather Service:
Today: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. South southeast wind 7 to 9 mph becoming west southwest. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: A slight chance of showers before 10pm, then showers likely after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Calm wind becoming east southeast between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Sunday: Rain. High near 50. Southeast wind between 10 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
