This storm is slow-moving and has been delayed somewhat. Instead of feeling its impacts this afternoon, Chico should begin seeing rain right around or just after midnight tonight. The rain will be moderate to heavy at times, and the wind should pick up, especially during the day tomorrow. Rainfall amounts in the Sacramento Valley will range from a half an inch to an inch over the next 24 hours, and wind speeds will be around 15-25 mph. Snow levels could initially start around 3000 feet but rise rapidly to 6000 feet tomorrow. Nine to twelve inches of snow is possible above 6000 feet, while two feet (yes, you read that correctly) should fall above 7000 feet during the next 24 to 36 hours. Keep in mind, this is just the first of three storms to affect our area through this weekend. More rain, mountain snow, and wind will come in late Friday/ early Saturday, while the third storm is scheduled to arrive by Sunday and linger into Monday. Chico could end up with nearly five inches of rain over the next five days! We need it! Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:
