... but the grass will be from all the recent rain we've had. The grass across the area is a beautifully vivid emerald green right now, perfect to put people in the mood for St. Patrick's Day. I'm sure most of the bars in Chico will be open early today to celebrate, even though many of the students are out of town for spring break. The locals will have the bars to themselves, I guess. Enjoy the brief dry spell today, because more showers and more wind will invade starting tonight and lasting through this weekend (yay). A chance of showers will linger through the middle of next week, at least. Flood Advisories may be posted for this weekend, and watch out for potential mudslides if you live in the foothills. Winter Storm Warnings are already posted for the Sierra Nevada and Coast Range mountains above 5000 feet in anticipation of the next storm. I love stormy weather, but I'm also ready for warm, sunny, spring weather. Fortunately, Chico is engulfed in spring colors currently, with the aforementioned grass, the yellows of the forsythias, the whites of the pear trees, and the pinks of the cherry trees. The purple and pink colors of the plum trees are beginning to fade, as they reached their peak colors last week. Some of the other deciduous trees are budding and leafing out currently. It should continue to be pretty in Chico over the next few weeks with the fresh green leaves bursting forth. Now if only the sky would change color from slate grey to blue... Here's the latest forecast for Chico from the National Weather Service:
