another storm arrives today

First off, I wanted to briefly discuss a wonderful program I attended last night at Laxson Auditorium on the Chico State campus. It's called "Keeping Dance Alive," and it is put on annually by the Friends of Chico Community Ballet. This organization ensures that the art medium of dance continues and thrives in our fair city of Chico. "Keeping Dance Alive" is an annual showcase (now in its 20th year) of a celebration of different dance styles performed by local youth. Last night's performances included traditional ballet, modern ballet, hip hop, flamenco, and traditional Japanese dance. The sets, costumes, and choreography were amazing, and it's a great thing that we have so much local talent. It's yet another cool thing about Chico. Anyway, weatherwise we will be cool and damp for much of the upcoming work week, so don't put away the jackets and umbrellas just yet. Rain and breezy conditions will occur today in the valley, while elevations above 5000 feet in the mountains will see 4-8 inches of snow. Winds may gust to 40 mph in the mountains this afternoon, creating reduced visibility and dangerous driving conditions. There'll be a brief lull before the next storm comes in Tuesday. It'll be showery Wednesday through the end of the week, with below average temps during that same period (we should be around 64 degrees for the high for mid-March). Here are the details from the National Weather Service:
