warming up

Today was a warm one, with a high temperature in Chico of 80 degrees. The warm up will continue tomorrow and into the weekend as strong high pressure builds in over the Northstate. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s by Saturday. The warm up won't last long, however, and by the middle of next week high temps will fall back into the upper 60s. Dry conditions will persist the next seven days, so get out and enjoy the warm weather! Just be careful- drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and avoid the temptation to jump into the still very cold waters of our numerous creeks and streams. Snow melt will be occuring this weekend, and the waters will be cold and swift. Use caution. Here is Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 57. North northwest wind around 9 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 86. Northwest wind between 3 and 10 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 87. North northwest wind around 6 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. West wind at 5 mph becoming northeast.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 86.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 73.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
