Chico has received nearly an inch of rain over the past 24 hours, and that, along with heavy rain in the foothills, has prompted an Urban Flood Advisory until 1am tomorrow (Tuesday). Many of the creeks and streams that drain into the valley, two of which run through Chico, originate in the mountains and foothills. A lot of the heavy rain that occurred today in the foothills drained into those streams, causing them to swell with too much water. Thus, the reason the Flood Advisory was posted. Rain has already tapered to showers, and those showers should end by mid-morning tomorrow. A return to sunny weather (finally) should happen by Wednesday and continue into Thursday. Then another, albeit weaker, storm will invade by Friday. That storm should be quick to exit, as dry weather returns for Saturday and lasts through early next week. I'm beginning to crave the sun again! Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:
