nasty weather

It has been wet and breezy in Chico the past 36 hours. Since about 10 pm Saturday it has been almost continuously raining. Chico has picked up almost 2 inches of rain since Saturday night, while winds have gusted to over 30 mph at times. Chico and the entire Sacramento Valley are under a Wind Advisory until 6 pm this evening. Winds are expected to gust to over 40 mph early this afternoon as a cold front moves through. More storms are lined up out in the Pacific, and the strong jet stream winds will steer them right into Northern California through Wednesday. Flooding may be an issue by the end of the week as some parts of the Northstate will see anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of rain. The Sierra Nevada mountains will get pasted with 5 to 10 feet of snow by the end of this week. This is good news as we have been in a nearly four year drought. Be careful out and about in this weather!
