This is what I've been waiting for! From the National Weather Service:
WINDY AND WET WEATHER MAY RETURN NEXT WEEK...
A SERIES OF LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS MAY SPREAD VALLEY RAIN AND MOUNTAIN
SNOW ACROSS THE REGION BEGINNING MONDAY AFTERNOON. GUSTY SOUTH
WINDS ARE LIKELY IN THE VALLEYS...WITH STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS IN
THE MOUNTAINS. SNOW LEVELS MAY BE NEAR 5000 FEET MONDAY
AFTERNOON...AND DROP LOWER TUESDAY. TRAVEL ACROSS THE SIERRA IS
LIKELY TO BE IMPACTED WITH THESE STORMS. WINDY AND WET WEATHER MAY
PERSIST THROUGH MID- WEEK. THE LATEST COMPUTER MODELS INDICATE
ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN AND SNOW MAY THEN DEVELOP TOWARD THE END OF
NEXT WEEK.
THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT WEATHER CHANGE. EVERYONE SHOULD BE AWARE
THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF WINDY AND WET WEATHER IS POSSIBLE NEXT
WEEK. IT IS TOO EARLY TO FORECAST HOW MUCH RAIN AND SNOW WILL
FALL. INITIALLY IT APPEARS THAT SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW MAY
FALL IN THE MOUNTAINS...AND STRONG WIND AND RAIN WILL IMPACT THE
VALLEYS NEXT WEEK. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE FORECASTS FOR UPDATES ON THIS DEVELOPING STORMY WEATHER.
I'll have more updates over the next several days. Finally, some stormy weather! How exciting!
