From the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WIND

* WINDS: SOUTHERLY FLOW WITH SUSTAINED WINDS 15 TO 30 MPH AND
STRONG GUSTS AROUND 40 TO 45 MPH.

EVENING AFTER 6 PM.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: STOCKTON...MODESTO...CHICO...REDDING...

* IMPACTS: DOWNED BRANCHES AND SMALL TREES POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS ABOVE 25 MPH ARE
EXPECTED WITH GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE
DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE
EXTRA CAUTION.

It has been wet and windy today in Chico, while some foothills locations (including my house, el. 1500 feet) have seen a mix of rain and snow. Temps have been stuck in the lower 40s in Chico, while it's currently 33 degrees at my house. Winds have been gusty, as well, with speeds over 30 mph at times today. The weather should calm down some tomorrow and into the weekend, but it will remain colder than normal for the next several days. It's almost hard to believe that just four days ago it was sunny and in the 70s!
