El Nino in full effect
Chico picked up nearly six tenths of an inch last night and today as another storm system moved through. There was some isolated thunderstorm activity last evening in the foothills east of town. It was a pretty cool lightning display as the storms moved from south to north right over the Sierra foothills. The sun should return tomorrow, albeit briefly. That's because more weak weather disturbances will invade this coming work week, giving Chico a chance of showers Monday through Wednesday. Another potentially big storm will arrive by Thursday and linger into Friday. High temperatures should stay in the 50s, while lows will generally be in the 40s. While running around town conducting errands today, I passed by the Rio Lindo Channel. That's the human-made waterway that diverts excess water flow from Chico Creek around Chico. Man, was that channel full of roaring water! Chico Creek was also running high, about to overflow its banks. Chico has seen over ten inches of rain the past two and a half weeks, so it's no surprise the area creeks are running high. More rain is on the way!
