update on the storm arriving later today
From the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:
Southerly winds will increase during the day today. Southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph in the Valley and Southwest winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts to around 50 mph over Sierra ridges. Precipitation will begin in the north during the day and spread across the area this evening. Snow levels will be around 7000 ft and drop to around 5000 ft by Sunday morning. Snow accumulations are expected to be up to 6 inches over the Sierra. Travel delays are possible due to the rain, snow and gusty winds. Chain controls may be posted along the Sierra passes. Gusty winds may make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Chico could see up to a fourth of an inch of rain by tomorrow, along with gusty winds. Stay safe and dry!
