not so hot today

Chico saw its first below 90 degree day in quite a while today- 89 was the high. The Delta breeze kicked in this morning, transporting the cooler marine air from the Pacific Ocean right on up the Sacramento Valley. It's Mother Nature's air conditioning, as I like to call the Delta breeze. Unfortunately, it won't last. Tomorrow through the weekend we're right back to the heat, with highs in the mid to upper 90s. At least the nights will be pleasant- mainly in the mid 60s. You can crank up the air conditioning during the afternoon (say around 2pm), then turn it off and open the windows before retiring to bed. That's the nice thing about summer in Northern California- lack of oppressive humidity. One can sleep quite comfortably at night with temps in the 60s and low humidity levels. Here's the hot forecast for Chico from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 63. South southeast wind between 11 and 14 mph becoming light. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 65. South southeast wind between 7 and 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Northwest wind at 7 mph becoming southwest.

Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 65. South wind around 7 mph becoming east.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 66.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 65.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 64.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 63.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 94.
