it's hot!

That's about all I can say about the weather the past few days here in Chico. Yesterday's high temperature was 101 degrees; today's high was 103. As I type this, it is still 102 degrees in Chico. We should see triple digit heat for a couple of more days, but a trough digging into the Pacific Northwest will drop temperatures by up to ten degrees early next week. No rain is in the forecast (rain is rare this time of year), but the heat will be reduced. A Slice of Chico is tomorrow. It's an annual celebration of local commerce where downtown merchants (many of them locally owned) have a sidewalk sale and put some of their merchandise out onto the sidewalks at a reduced price. The "Slice" is a free slice of watermelon handed out to eat while perusing the merchandise. It's part of what makes Chico special. Support downtown businesses and cool off with a cold slice of juicy watermelon. If you get too hot, you can always dash inside the stores! Here's the Chico seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 70. South southeast wind between 6 and 8 mph.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. East southeast wind at 6 mph becoming southwest.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 67. South wind around 6 mph.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 5 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 63. South southeast wind at 8 mph becoming east northeast.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 91.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 62.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 90.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 62.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 63.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 93.
