AN UNSEASONABLY COOL LATE-SEASON WEATHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MONDAY AND TUESDAY BRINGING PRECIPITATION...
LOWERING SNOW LEVELS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES. TEMPERATURES WILL
DROP SIGNIFICANTLY MONDAY. RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW ARE LIKELY
ACROSS THE REGION. A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE IN
THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY LATE IN THE DAY ON
MONDAY. GUSTY WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE AS THE SYSTEM MOVES
THROUGH...ESPECIALLY OVER THE MOUNTAINS.
CURRENT FORECAST MODELS INDICATE SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION IS
POSSIBLE OVER THE NORTHERN SIERRA WITH RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW AT
THE PASSES AS SNOW LEVELS LOWER MONDAY NIGHT. UP TO 5 INCHES OF
SNOWFALL MAY OCCUR ALONG THE NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA CREST WITH
AROUND AN INCH OR SO POSSIBLE DOWN TO AROUND THE 5000 FOOT LEVEL.
CAMPERS...HIKERS AND OTHER OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS ARE ADVISED TO BE
PREPARED FOR A DRAMATIC CHANGE IN THE WEATHER MONDAY AND TUESDAY.
MOTORISTS ARE ALSO ADVISED TO BE PREPARED FOR WINTER-LIKE DRIVING
CONDITIONS THROUGH THE HIGH-ELEVATION NORTHERN SIERRA PASSES.
Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds, with a low around 60. South southeast wind between 9 and 14 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Monday: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. High near 69. South southeast wind between 16 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then showers likely. Low around 49. South southeast wind between 13 and 16 mph becoming calm. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming west.
