Special Weather Statement
From the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:
AN UNSEASONABLY COOL LATE-SEASON WEATHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MONDAY AND TUESDAY...BRINGING MARKEDLY COOLER
TEMPERATURES...A GOOD CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION FOR HIGHER
ELEVATIONS...AND LOWERING SNOW LEVELS. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP
SIGNIFICANTLY...WITH HIGHS ON MONDAY FALLING BY 15 TO 20 DEGREES
FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY AND UP TO 30 DEGREES FROM THE HIGHEST
TEMPERATURES OF THIS WEEK. MOUNTAIN RAIN AND SNOW IS LIKELY...WITH
A CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY. GUSTY WINDS ARE
POSSIBLE AS THE SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH...ESPECIALLY OVER THE HIGHER
TERRAIN.
WHILE THIS WEATHER SYSTEM IS STILL SEVERAL DAYS AWAY...CURRENT
FORECAST MODELS INDICATE SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION IS
POSSIBLE OVER THE SIERRA...WITH RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW AT THE PASSES
AS SNOW LEVELS DROP. CAMPERS...HIKERS AND OTHER OUTDOOR
ENTHUSIASTS ARE ADVISED TO BE PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF A
DRAMATIC CHANGE IN THE WEATHER FOR THE NORTHERN SIERRA.
