Like a blast furnace
Hot and windy this weekend. Not a great time to be outdoors. Here's a Special Weather Statement on the heat from the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:
UNSEASONABLY HOT TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FOR THE COMING WEEKEND.
AFTERNOON HIGHS IN THE VALLEY WILL RANGE FROM AROUND 98 TO 105 FOR
BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. TEMPERATURES IN THE FOOTHILLS WILL ALSO
BE QUITE WARM AND ARE EXPECTED TO REACH THE 90S TO AROUND 100.
HIGH TEMPERATURES OVER THE MOUNTAINS WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 70S
TO NEAR 90.
IN ADDITION TO THE HEAT...BREEZY TO WINDY CONDITIONS FRIDAY
THROUGH SATURDAY WILL BRING AN INCREASE IN FIRE DANGER...ESPECIALLY
TO THE CENTRAL VALLEY WHERE THE GRASSES AND BRUSH ARE BECOMING
QUITE DRY. IN THE NORTHERN SACRAMENTO VALLEY...WIND GUSTS FRIDAY
THROUGH SATURDAY ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 20 TO 30 MPH WITH HUMIDITY
POSSIBLY DOWN TO SINGLE DIGITS. OVERNIGHT HUMIDITY RECOVERY IS
ONLY EXPECTED TO BE POOR TO MODERATE. LIGHTER WINDS ARE EXPECTED
ON SUNDAY BUT HUMIDITY VALUES WILL REMAIN QUITE LOW.
THOSE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND SHOULD
BE PREPARED FOR WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES. ALSO BE AWARE THAT
FIRE DANGER IN MANY AREAS MAY BECOME CRITICAL.
SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES AND LIGHTER WINDS ARE EXPECTED MONDAY
AND INTO NEXT WEEK.
Blast furnace, anyone?
