Hot Father's Day in Chico

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! The National Weather Service was off with its forecast high yesterday by about five degrees- it reached 106 degrees at Chico Airport at 4:47 yesterday afternoon (the forecast high was 101 degrees). I believe that makes yesterday the hottest day in about three years. There will be one more day of triple digit heat before temps cool down into the 90s this upcoming week. That sounds strange- cooling off into the 90s! By next weekend, temps will be nearly 20 degrees cooler than this weekend as a trough allows southerly winds to transport cooler marine air up from the Delta. The NWS is forecasting winds from the south today, as well, so hopefully that will moderate the heat a bit. Looking forward to next weekend! Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the NWS: Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. Calm wind becoming south southeast between 8 and 11 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. South southeast wind between 8 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Monday: Sunny, with a high near 92. South southeast wind between 3 and 8 mph. Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 59. Southeast wind at 5 mph becoming north. Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 91. North northwest wind between 9 and 11 mph. Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 62. Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 63. Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 95. Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Friday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 87.
