BREEZY WINDS AND MOUNTAIN SNOW RETURN TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY...
A COLD WINTER WEATHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA TONIGHT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. LIGHT TO MODERATE ACCUMULATIONS OF
SNOW ARE EXPECTED FOR THE WEST SLOPE OF THE SIERRA NEVADA AND THE
PORTIONS OF THE SIERRA FOOTHILLS...AND LIGHT RAINFALL AMOUNTS ON
THE EAST SIDE OF THE VALLEY.
SNOW WILL FALL OVER LASSEN PARK AND THE NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA
LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH MID MORNING WEDNESDAY. MOST OF
THE SNOW WILL FALL DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS AND OVER THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER INTO THE
FOOTHILLS WHERE A LIGHT DUSTING OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE. SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO HALF A FOOT ARE EXPECTED OVER THE MAJOR
MOUNTAIN PASSES.
BREEZY NORTHERLY WINDS WILL PICK UP ACROSS THE AREA AFTER THE
WINTER SYSTEM EXITS INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. FOR THE VALLEY...
SUSTAINED WINDS OF UP TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH ARE
FORECAST ON WEDNESDAY WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS ALONG THE WEST
SIDE. WINDS WILL WEAKEN GRADUALLY ON THURSDAY. FOR THE SIERRA...
SUSTAINED NORTHERLY WINDS OF 30 MPH ... WITH GUSTS OF UP TO 45 MPH
OR LOCALLY HIGHER ARE POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY
MORNING.
