There is currently a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect until 6:15 pm for northwestern Butte County. A severe thunderstorm cell is moving eastward out of Tehama County and into northwestern Butte County at this time. This thunderstorm may produce a weak tornado and stay mainly over sparsely populated rural areas. It has been a stormy 24 hours in Chico. The city has picked up over an inch of rain since yesterday afternoon. The winds weren't nearly as strong as predicted, so there were no power outages. However, despite a mainly dry and sunny morning this morning, the clouds quickly built up and scattered afternoon thunderstorms have been the result. This shower activity will continue into the evening before it begins to calm down after 9pm tonight. Look forward to a beautiful fall weekend, with highs in the 70s both Saturday and Sunday.
