latest update on upcoming stormy weather

From the National Weather Service:

A MAJOR SHIFT TO A WET WEATHER PATTERN WILL OCCUR WEDNESDAY AND
THURSDAY OF THIS WEEK AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK FOR
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE JET STREAM AND A MOISTURE PLUME ARE AIMED
TO BRING A SERIES OF STORM SYSTEMS INTO THE REGION. THIS WILL
BRING PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW ALONG
WITH GUSTY WINDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES.

THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY WITH THE ONSET OF THE
PRECIPITATION BUT SNOW LEVELS WILL INITIALLY BE LOW AND WILL
GRADUALLY RISE THROUGH THE WEEK. RAIN AND SNOW ARE LIKELY TO START
OVER PARTS OF SHASTA COUNTY LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY
BEFORE SPREADING SOUTH WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY. SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOWFALL ARE STILL POSSIBLE ALONG I-5 NORTH OF REDDING
ON WEDNESDAY. SOME ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR THE WESTERN SLOPES OF THE
NORTHERN SIERRA IS EXPECTED TO START WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH THE
HEAVIER SNOWFALL EXPECTED ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. SUBSTANTIAL HIGH
ELEVATION SNOW TOTALS LOOK LIKELY THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK.

TRAVELERS AND OUTDOOR RECREATIONALISTS SHOULD PREPARE FOR THE
CHANGE TO COLDER AND WETTER WEATHER THIS WEEK. IF TRAVELING INTO
THE MOUNTAINS CARRY CHAINS AND EXTRA FOOD AND WARM CLOTHING AND
EXPECT POSSIBLE TRAVEL DELAYS.
