hard freeze warning in effect

From the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS UPGRADED THE HARD
FREEZE WATCH TO A HARD FREEZE WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
10 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM PST TUESDAY.

* TEMPERATURE: DROPPING INTO THE LOW TO MID 20S TONIGHT WITH
TEMPERATURES BELOW 29 DEGREES FOR 4 TO 8 HOURS AFTER MIDNIGHT
UNTIL 9 AM TUESDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL BE WARMER TUESDAY
NIGHT BUT STILL MAY DIP INTO THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S FOR 3
TO 5 HOURS WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: REDDING...CHICO...MARYSVILLE...SACRAMENTO...
VACAVILLE...FAIRFIELD.


* IMPACTS: FRUIT AND NUT TREES MAY SUFFER DAMAGE. PEOPLE SHOULD
CHECK ON ELDERLY AND PROVIDE SHELTER FOR OUTDOOR PETS. EXPOSED
OUTDOOR PIPES AND IRRIGATION WATER LINES MAY FREEZE.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HARD FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE
IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY. THESE CONDITIONS CAN KILL CROPS AND OTHER
SENSITIVE VEGETATION. WRAP EXPOSED PIPES. TURN OFF SPRINKLER
SYSTEMS AND DRAIN IF POSSIBLE.
