where's the rain?

Northern California is well into its rainy season right now, but we haven't seen any actual rain for awhile. Where is it? Off to our north, as the Pacific Northwest is bearing the brunt of the wet and stormy weather. Oh, there's a slight chance of rain in this week's forecast, but nothing major. So our drought continues. Those gusty northwest winds we experienced yesterday only exacerbated the extremely dry conditions. Wind gusts in Chico reached 37 mph, with a high of 65 degrees. The winds won't be as fierce today, gusting up to 20 mph, again, from the northwest. Look for high temps in the mid 60s again today, with highs around 70 for tomorrow through Thursday. Another weak and dry front moves through Thursday, dropping temperatures a few degrees Friday and Saturday, but it will remain mainly dry. Our next chance of rain hopefully will happen Sunday, with highs struggling to reach 60 degrees. Overnight lows will remain in the 40s through this coming weekend. Here's Chico's seven day forecast from the National Weather Service: Today Sunny, with a high near 67. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Tonight Mostly clear, with a low around 41. North northeast wind around 6 mph. Tuesday Sunny, with a high near 69. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Tuesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. Light and variable wind. Wednesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the morning. Wednesday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Thursday A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. Friday Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Saturday Night A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Sunday A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 60.
