nice weather ahead

Yesterday's high temperature in Chico was a rather pleasant 88 degrees. There was a nice breeze from the south around 15 mph, and clouds began to roll in later in the day. The clouds were brought in by a weak area of low pressure that will scoot on out of here by later today. This morning has also been mostly cloudy and cool, with a slight breeze from the south. This pleasant weather (well, for our standards, anyway) will continue through the work (and school) week. Chico State University students return to class beginning tomorrow, and the city has already begun to feel their presence. A small group of students became rowdy late Friday night in the "frat" neighborhood and began throwing bottles and rocks at police. We have had riots and mayhem before in Chico from some university students, but they are a minority and not reflective of the student body as a whole. Sometimes certain students have a little too much alcohol and end up becoming violent. I think this happens in any college town. Chico has had an ongoing debate about how to limit the accessibility of alcohol to college students, especially those under age 21. It's a debate that will continue for some time, I believe.
