hotter than expected

Yesterday the high temperature in Chico soared to 96 degrees under sunny skies. Today will be similar, as high pressure exerts its influence over our region. This is hotter than previously forecast. However, this heat won't stick around; highs by this weekend will return to below average (which is 93 degrees for mid-August). The heat will return for early next week, with highs back into the mid 90s. Overnight lows will generally be in the mid 60s, which is also above average (it should be 59 degrees for the low this time of year). As per usual this time of year, no rain is in the forecast.
